Paola Cortellesi’s feminist black-and-white dramedy There’s Still Tomorrow (C’è Ancora Domani) is among the 207 feature films eligible for the 97th Academy Awards.
To qualify for Best Picture, a film must have been screened in US theatres for at least seven days in 2024. Nominations voting begins this Wednesday and closes on Sunday. The final nominations will be revealed on Friday, 17 January ahead of the Oscars ceremony on Sunday, 2 March 2025.
Italian Box Office Sensation
There’s Still Tomorrow (C’è Ancora Domani), the directorial debut of Italian comic and actress Paola Cortellesi, became a major box office hit in Italy upon its 2023 release. The film, set in post-war Rome, portrays the struggles of an abused housewife and resonated deeply with audiences.
The film grossed an impressive €36.8 million in Italy, drawing 5.4 million viewers. Released in October 2023, it surpassed blockbusters Barbie and Oppenheimer to become the most-viewed film of the year in Italy.
C’è Ancora Domani is now the 10th highest-grossing film in Italian box office history. It also ranks fifth among the most successful Italian movies ever. By 2024, it had secured its position as the fourth record-breaking film at Italy’s box office.
The drama also achieved remarkable success in France, becoming the most-watched Italian film of the past decade in the country.
Paola Cortellesi’s directorial debut continues to gain international recognition.
