Air travellers in Italy should prepare for potential disruptions on Sunday, 15 December, due to planned strike action by air traffic controllers, baggage handlers, and other airport workers.
Strike season is still very much with us as airport workers walk out on Sunday. 15 December. Among the strikes is a 24-hour walkout by TechnoSky air navigation staff, which could impact air traffic management.
Additionally, ENAV air traffic controllers will strike between 13.00 and 17.00 at key airports, including Milan Malpensa, Milan Linate, Bari, Brindisi, and Catania. This may lead to delays and cancellations during the affected period.
Baggage handlers and airport staff represented by Assohandlers will also strike nationwide from 13.00 to 17.00. While flights are expected to operate, disruptions to check-in and baggage handling are likely.
Flights Affected
ITA Airways announced the cancellation of 37 national and international flights on Sunday due to the strike. Routes impacted include connections to major destinations such as Rome, Milan, London, and Brussels.
Rome airport operator Aeroporti di Roma has advised passengers to anticipate delays or cancellations and to check the status of their flights with their respective airlines.
