European Sleeper to launch night train to Milan

News Travel & Tourism

European Sleeper will expand its night train network with a new service to Milan. The route is scheduled to launch in June 2026.

The Belgian-Dutch operator will run three weekly night trains with services departing from Brussels and Amsterdam. The new route follows the launch of the Paris–Berlin night train. That service is due to start on 26 March 2026.

The Milan service will include direct carriages from both Brussels and Amsterdam, which will combine in western Germany before continuing south.

Planned intermediate stops include Cologne, Berne, Brig and Stresa. The train will arrive in Milan the following morning.

In Switzerland, the route follows the historic Simplon line, passing through Bern, Brig and Domodossola before entering Italy.

European Sleeper says the route strengthens north–south rail links, connecting major economic and cultural centres. Last year, the company launched a seasonal train connecting Brussels to Venice.

Connections across Europe

The new service creates additional connections across the continent, making train travel a viable option for both business people and travellers.

Brussels offers links to London. Cologne connects with Hamburg and Berlin. Berne provides onward travel to Zurich and Geneva. In Milan, passengers can continue to Venice, Florence and Rome.

European Sleeper currently connects Brussels, Amsterdam, Berlin, Dresden and Prague. It operates three night trains per week on that network.

Departures from Amsterdam and Brussels are planned for Monday, Thursday and Saturday evenings.
Arrival in Switzerland and Milan will be the next morning. Return services from Milan will run on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday nights.

The company has already carried almost 240,000 passengers, and has run more than 750 night train services.

Ticket sales

European Sleeper is finalising the timetable with national rail operators. Sales are expected to open between January and February 2026.

The train will offer standard night train accommodation with pricing following European Sleeper’s existing fare structure.
