Pompei Archaeological Park opens free Covid test centre for visitors

As the new Green Pass rules came into effect yesterday, limiting access to museums, Pompei opened a free test centre to its visitors.

With effect from 6th August, visitors to the Archaeological Park of Pompei can only enter with a Green Pass. The pass shows the holder has full vaccination, a negative covid test result or has recently recovered from Covid-19.

For those without a Green Pass, however, the Park opened a testing centre at the Piazza Anfiteatro entrance. Operational during the regular site opening hours, it is exclusively for ticket holders to the park.

The centre provides rapid antigen tests and issues the related certification.

There is also a list of pharmacies in the Metropolitan City of Naples area which are participating in the voluntary screening programme.

Staff have all entrances covered for checks

The park’s staff are at all entrances to verify the QR code digitally with the VerificaC19 app. A certificate in paper format is also acceptable. It is advisable to take either your ID card or passport as well in order to verify ownership.

“In a global emergency situation like the one we are going through” – said Pompei director Gabriel Zuchtriegel – “the task of those who manage cultural sites must be to best reconcile the needs of public health and safety with our mission to be an inclusive and accessible place open to all.”
