The Ministry of Health updated its latest guidance clarifying the government’s latest travel ordinance, which came into effect today. Below are the new rules for entry for the UK, USA, Canada and Israel.

  • Negative results for a molecular (PCR) or rapid antigen test taken in the 72 hours before their arrival in Italy.
  • A completed passenger locator form

The Italian embassy to Canada website states it is possible to enter Italy without one of these items, but passengers will be subject to a five-day quarantine. At the end of the quarantine period the must take a test which shows negative for covid.

Previously, visitors from the US only needed to produce the equivalent of the Green Pass (point 1 above) without quarantining.

The new rules will remain in force until October 25th.

United Kingdom

Until today, all visitors from the UK needed to quarantine for 5 days upon arrival in Italy. That will no longer apply provided they produce:

  • Proof they have completed a full vaccination cycle for at least 14 days;
  • Negative results for a molecular (PCR) or rapid antigen test taken in the 48 hours before their arrival in Italy;
