2024 will have one of the hottest summers since Italian meteorological recordings began in 1800, the National Research Council (CNR) said Saturday.
Temperatures in June placed the month ninth in the all-time rankings. It was followed by a July which placed third highest in media temperatures. August will confirm the trend, said Tuscany Region, CNR and Consorzio Lamma weatherman Claudio Tei.
“The precipitations expected from Monday will certainly not be enough to speak of a cooler summer,” he said.
“After the four days of bad weather forecast, in fact, temperatures will return above average, albeit with much more acceptable values compared to these last few days”.
Tei said storms would start hitting the north of Italy Monday and September would be marked by “more bearable heat”.
