Arianna Meloni, Premier Giorgia Meloni’s elder sister and FdI secretariat coordinator, revealed her separation from husband Francesco Lollobrigida, the Farm Minister and FdI figure, after 20 years of marriage.
“Yes, it’s true, we haven’t been together for a while,” Meloni, 49, told Il Foglio, confirming rumours about her split from 52-year-old Lollobrigida. She shares two daughters with. They have been in a relationship since 2000.
“For Lollo, I’d throw myself into the Tiber, as they say in Rome. We love each other. Our political project continues; our personal relationships are still solid, but love is another thing,” she added.
Meloni, two years older than her sister, denied comparisons with the late Silvio Berlusconi after Il Giornale claimed, “they want to investigate Arianna Meloni” for alleged public-sector appointment interference. She also dismissed accusations of attacking the judiciary.
“If anything, the attack is against a certain kind of journalism that continually pulls me into the picture by describing me as having been grappling with appointments and power plots for two years,” she told Il Foglio. “This demeans me.”
