In the third case of the so-called ‘Ruby trials, ex-Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi is said to have had sex slaves at orgies. The trial has now gone on for eight years.
Silvio Berlusconi, three-time Prime Minister, and media mogul is reported to have had ‘sex slaves’. In one of the trials stemming from the original ‘Ruby’ case, the court heard how the girls were used at orgies at his villa outside Milan.
It was at his villa that Berlusconi was accused of having sex with teenage Moroccan runaway and exotic dancer, Ruby the Heartstealer.
Women on trial alongside Berlusconi
A number of the young women who attended the parties with the former premier are also on trial. They are accused of taking bribes to make them keep mum about the true nature of the soirees. Berlusconi described them as elegant and innocent affairs.
The ex-prime minister was acquitted in the original trial. The judges ruled he could not have known Ruby was only 17 when he paid for sex with her.
However, in her summing up, the prosecutor Tiziana Siciliano said, “The facts have been handed down to history by now. The then serving premier was wont to systematically spice up his evening entertainments hosting in his home groups of odalisques, paid sex slaves.”
She argued the girls were paid off by the centre-right Forza Italia leader.
Siciliano also said that a witness who died of a rare disease in 2019, Moroccan-Italian model Imane Fadil, “was afraid. A fear that went with her to her death; a fear that the milieu that accompanied her to her death was really dangerous and powerful”.
The prosecutor also told the court the duration of the trial, eight years, “means the (justice) system has failed”.
