The new director of the Uffizi Gallery has announced changes to the opening times in 2024. Every Tuesday from 26th March until 17th December 2024, the museum will be open until 9.30pm with the last admission at 8:30 pm.
This offers visitors a unique opportunity to admire its renowned art masterpieces bathed in the enchanting light of the sunset.
Simone Verde, the Director of the Uffizi, aims to encourage the citizens of Florence to reconnect with their city’s primary and most emblematic museum by providing an evening time slot tailored to the schedules of those who live and work in the area.

In addition to the extended Tuesday openings, special access days are scheduled on Mondays, typically the Galleries’ weekly closing day. On specific dates such as April 1 and 29, June 24 (Feast Day of St. John, the Patron Saint of Florence), and December 30, both the Uffizi Gallery and the Boboli Gardens will welcome visitors.
Paperless entry
Director Simone Verde also announced plans to introduce a new entry system by May, allowing visitors to enter the museum by simply presenting a QR code on their mobile phones.
Those who book their admission through the call centre or the official website will receive a code via email for direct download onto their smartphones. Until the new system is fully operational, the current validation rules for pre-purchased tickets will remain in place.
