Transport strike scheduled for 11th April

News Travel & Tourism

Italy is bracing for a nationwide strike affecting local and national public transport services, including rail travel, on Thursday, 11th April. The transport strike, organised by trade unions CGIL and UIL, aim to address various concerns such as workplace safety and tax reform.

Scheduled at different times across Italian cities, the strikes will not disrupt air travel but will affect other modes of transportation. Post office services will also be interrupted for four hours, while the construction sector will observe an eight-hour strike.

Trenitalia trains will experience cancellations and timetable adjustments from 09:00 to 13:00, with similar disruptions expected for Trenord services in Lombardia around Milan during the same period.

In Rome, the strike will affect public transport operated by ATAC and Roma TPL from 20:00 to midnight. The Cotral bus service in the greater Rome area will face disruptions from 13:00 to 17:00.

Milan’s local public transport, except for Trenord rail services, will operate normally, following an order prohibiting ATM workers from participating in the strike.

Milan’s decision to maintain transport services comes in light of the G7 transport ministers’ summit in the city and the Europa League quarter-final match between AC Milan and AS Roma.
