Virtuoso Travel, a leading global network of luxury travel agencies, names Bulgari Hotel Roma the best hotel in the world, in its 2024 rankings.
Italy’s tourism minister, Daniela Santanchè, celebrated the achievement, stating on X: “Italy never ceases to excel. Now even the best hotel in the world is Italian. It is in Rome, and it couldn’t be otherwise.”
The five-star hotel overlooks the ancient Mausoleum of Augustus in the heart of Rome’s historic centre. The luxury jeweller Bulgari inaugurated the hotel just over a year ago. Like all Bulgari Hotels properties, the Italian architectural firm Antonio Citterio Patricia Viel was in charge of both the restoration of the building and the interior design of the Bulgari Hotel Roma.
Rome’s tourism councillor, Alessandro Onorato, expressed pride in the recognition. He said, “We are proud that the Bulgari Roma has been awarded by Virtuoso Travel as the best hotel of 2024.” He praised the “precious and successful” partnership between the city and Bulgari.
Onorato also noted that the award for the 114-room hotel is an “excellent recognition” for the capital, which is undergoing “a revolution in the luxury sector.” He highlighted Rome was the fastest-growing European city in terms of tourism in 2023, with a more than 45% increase from the previous year, and predicted even better numbers for 2024.

Bulgari sponsors major restorations in Rome
In recent years, Bulgari has sponsored several major restorations in Rome, including the Spanish Steps and the archaeological site at Largo Argentina, and recently hosted a fashion show at the Baths of Diocletian.
Last December, Luxury Travel Intelligence (LTI) ranked Rome second only to London for attracting the world’s top luxury hotel brands in 2023. The Italian capital performed particularly well on LTI’s list of the top luxury hotels globally, with Bulgari Roma taking first place and the Six Senses on Via del Corso ranked seventh.
