Business News

On 4th July 2024, the Milan Public Prosecutor’s Office requested the trial of Tourism Minister Daniela Santanchè and 16 others for false accounting related to the Visibilia case.

Visibilia is the group founded by the ruling Brothers of Italy (FdI) senator, from which she divested her offices and shares in 2022.

The accused include her companion Dimitri Kunz, her sister Fiorella Garnero, her niece Silvia Garnero, and three companies involved in the investigation.

In the initial phase of the Visibilia affair, Santanchè, along with two other individuals, including Kunz, and two companies, are accused of aggravated fraud against the INPS social security and pensions agency concerning the lay-off fund during the COVID period. The preliminary hearing for this case is set for 9th October.

Despite these legal challenges, Santanchè has resisted calls to resign. She has also survived a no-confidence vote in the Lower House. However, Santanchè, a prominent figure in Meloni’s Brothers of Italy party, pledged to step down if indicted.
