Bozzoli on the run after partner and son return from Spain

News

In 2015, Giacomo Bozzoli killed his uncle Mario by throwing him into the furnace of their foundry. On Monday, the Supreme Court of Cassation made definitive a life sentence for the 39-year-old businessman. When police went to arrest him, Giacomo Bozzoli was on the run.

Giacomo Bozzoli, the 39-year-old sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of his uncle, went on the run. His partner and son returned to Brescia early yesterday (Friday 5th July) afternoon.

Bozzoli fled to Spain

Giacomo Bozzoli, his partner, and their son spent several days on holiday in Marbella, Spain. All stayed at the same hotel, booked until 30th June, with only Giacomo’s ID registered. Until the end of June, Bozzoli was still a free man.

However, from 1st July, their paths diverged. The mother and son moved to another hotel in Marbella, registering under the woman’s passport. Meanwhile Giacomo disappeared, most likely using a false passport since his own had expired and was never renewed.

From Monday to Friday, Antonella Colossi, not registered at any hotel on July 2nd and 3rd, remained silent, likely waiting for her partner to continue his fugitive journey. Then, at 2pm on Friday, she called home to inform her father she was back in Brescia.

Her father had previously made a desperate appeal: “This story is destroying me. I hope my daughter’s partner turns himself in soon for his own good, but especially for the good of my daughter and grandson.”

Colossi believes in Bozzoli’s innocence

Colossi has always believed in her partner’s innocence and faced trial for false testimony as a rifle was found under the bed in their Soiano del Garda home. Acquitted in the first and second instances, she awaits the Supreme Court’s verdict. She is not currently under investigation for aiding and abetting but was interviewed by Brescia’s Carabinieri as a person knowledgeable of the facts. She returned many “I don’t remember” and “I don’t know” responses.

“This escape was clearly planned,” one investigator remarked. Even the child’s early June birthday celebration with classmates and friends seemed calculated to make everything appear normal. The Maserati Levante, registered to Giacomo Bozzoli, passed through Manerba and Desenzano del Garda’s license plate readers on June 23 at 5:51, 5:53, and 6:03 AM. It remains unclear who was driving the car and if the family was already in Spain, leaving the car in someone else’s hands.

Bozzoli’s partner claimed they were driving to Spain that morning.
