A 31-year-old woman has died after the roof collapse at a Michelin-starred restaurant in the coastal town of Terracina, south of Rome, on Monday night.
The victim, sommelier Mara Severin, was working at Essenza restaurant when the roof gave way suddenly at around 22:00. She was pulled from the rubble alive but died shortly afterwards.

Around 10 people, including customers and staff, were injured in the roof collapse. Three remain in a critical condition and are receiving treatment in hospital.
Emergency services, including firefighters, responded quickly to the scene and carried out rescue operations late into the night. Local prosecutors have impounded the restaurant and launched an investigation to determine the cause of the collapse.
Terracina mayor Francesco Giannetti expressed his condolences, describing Severin as a “splendid, radiant young woman who loved her work.”
Essenza is a well-known fine dining venue in the region, praised for its modern cuisine and wine pairings. Authorities have not yet commented on whether structural issues had been previously reported.
