The 20% duties on Italian and European wine announced by President Trump have not deterred American buyers from Vinitaly.
More than 3,000 US operators have confirmed attendance at the 57th edition in Verona, matching last year’s record figure.
“The presence of American operators is encouraging news for companies and for Vinitaly,” said Adolfo Rebughini, general manager of Veronafiere. He added: “An uncertain scenario is opening up that will impact the geography of our exports.
“We share the concerns of the sector and are making the Vinitaly platform available to facilitate direct agreements.
“This includes agreements between companies, Italian associations, and importers-distributors in our first non-EU destination market.”
The US delegation includes 120 top buyers, selected and hosted by Veronafiere and Ice as part of the 2025 incoming plan. These high-level participants come mainly from Texas, the Midwest, California, Florida, and New York.
Alongside B2B meetings at the fair, a dedicated networking evening will take place on 8 April at Palazzo della Gran Guardia. During the event, organisers will also present the next edition of Vinitaly.USA, set for Chicago on 5–6 October.
