Jannik Sinner said he feels like a better and more complete player after defeating world number one Carlos Alcaraz to retain the ATP Finals title in Turin on Sunday. The 24-year-old won in straight sets and closed a remarkable season in which he reached four Grand Slam finals.

Sinner had vowed to broaden his game after losing the US Open final to Alcaraz in September. He wanted more variety, more unpredictability and greater confidence under pressure. Those adjustments were clear in Turin, where he delivered aggressive baseline play, sharp changes of pace and several moments of inspired shot-making.

He said the season showed the value of steady improvement, stressing he always tries to evolve as a player and believes results come when the work is consistent. He said he looked for positives even in defeat and tried to use every setback as a chance to grow.

“This year making four Grand Slam finals, coming here, winning here, having this big (winning) streak in end of the year, it’s amazing,” said Sinner. “I feel I am a better player than last year, I think this is the most important. “It’s all part of the process.

The final lived up to the rivalry that has shaped the season. Sinner and Alcaraz shared fourteen titles in 2025, including all four majors. Their meeting in Turin offered a fitting conclusion to a year of twin dominance. Sinner saved a set point with a bold second serve at 5-6 in the opening set and kept control in key moments during a tight two-hour contest.

“It was a very, very close match. I saved a set point in the first set and I am extremely happy with how I handled the situation and it means the world to me.”

Sinner joins McEnroe and Becker with multiple ATP Finals wins on home soil

The crowd in Turin played a major part. Sinner fed on the energy in the arena and produced his best tennis under its lights. The win placed him alongside John McEnroe and Boris Becker as one of the few players to win multiple ATP Finals titles on home soil.

Sinner said the victory meant a great deal after a demanding season. He paid tribute to his team and said such a result would not be possible without their support.

Sinner ended the night satisfied with both the title and the progress behind it. He said he feels stronger, calmer and more confident than last year. He described the season as amazing and said he was extremely happy with how everything came together. “We are individual athletes but without my team, this is not possible. Celebrating this trophy at the end of the year after such an intense last couple of months, there is no better ending,” said Sinner
