The competition will reach the biggest audience of any event in the history of padel. The sport has grown in popularity since the launch of the official global tour.

The Italy Premier Padel Major will be shown in 167 territories. This is the biggest reach of any event in padel’s history. The tour’s inaugural event,  the Ooredoo Qatar Major 2022 in March, was shown to 156 regions.

The international interest highlights the growing global popularity of the sport since the launch of Premier Padel, the official global tour. It is governed by the International Padel Federation (FIP) and also backed by the Professional Padel Association (PPA) and Qatar Sports Investments (QSI).

New broadcasters for the Italy Premier Padel Major include Sky Germany (Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg & South Tyrol), Sky UK (UK & Eire), Arena (Czech & Slovak) and Cosmote (Greece).

The new broadcasters join a list of rights holders including ESPN, beIN SPORTS, Sky Italia, Supersport, Charlton and Viaplay.

Padel and Italian Players

Premier Padel will host at least 10 new tournaments in 2022 – including four category one Major events. A share of €525,000 prize money is available for all top tier Premier Padel tournaments as well as 2000 official ranking points for the winner.

The sport is most popular in Spain and South American, with their players naturally dominating the rankings. However, in the women’s game, Carolina Orsi Gallorini of Italy is ranked at no.57. Just below her are compatriots Giulia Sussarello and Chiara Pappacena Cipriani in positions 60 and 61.

Currently, the Italian Women’s National Team is ranked no.3 in the world. The Italian Men’s National Team is currently at no.5 in the rankings.
