The 107th edition of Florence’s international menswear trade fair, Pitti Uomo, opened on Tuesday. The event features two international guests: Japanese designer Satoshi Kuwata debuting the Setchu brand, and Mm6 Maison Margiela. A total of 770 brands are participating under the theme “fire,” aimed at igniting the men’s fashion world.

Organisers noted that 45% of the collections feature foreign brands. The event takes place at Fortezza da Basso, inaugurated by Business and Made in Italy Minister Adolfo Urso. Running until January 17, the fair presents a packed agenda of shows and events focusing on fall-winter 2025/26 menswear collections. The emphasis is on innovation to boost sales following a decline in 2024.

Italian menswear sales fell by 3.6% last year, amounting to €11.4 billion, according to Confindustria’s fashion sector estimates. “Fashion is undergoing a complex transition,” said Raffaello Napoleone, CEO of Pitti Immagine. He highlighted the fair’s focus on diverse products, styles, and international exhibitors.

The event highlights the culture of running, dedicating a special area to it. There is also a space for international collaborations. The ancient fortress features collections in five sections, ranging from classic styles celebrating refined sartorial excellence to avant-garde fashion.

Key events include Mm6 Maison Margiela’s fashion show on Wednesday and Setchu’s debut on Thursday. Special sections will also highlight contemporary Chinese, Scandinavian, and French fashion. The event will showcase Japanese leatherwear in collaboration with Japan’s economy, trade, and industry ministry.
