A Genovese student won an international pesto competition. Meanwhile, Lombardy wine heads to the Vino Forum in Rome next week.
Ascovilo, an association of thirteen wine consortia, brings Lombardy wine to the Vino Forum scheduled in Rome from 10th – 19th June. It will promote the wine’s excellence and enhance the food and wine business.
Among other things, the association will support the trade magazine Wine Tales Magazine. It is the nineteenth edition of the Capitoline event for wine. Each year it hosts around 50,000 visitors.
Lombardy and its wines will tell their stories for ten days through tastings and masterclasses held in the Wine Tales Magazine area.
“Our wine productions are the expression of a territory with great potential, however sometimes our commitment is not adequately communicated,” said Giovanna Prandini, president of Ascovilo in Brescia.
“I am happy to start this collaboration, certain that the opportunity to present ourselves in an extremely interesting market for the consumption of Italian wine, can support the attempt of our consortia to promote the DOP and IGP denominations of Lombardy.”
Best Pesto in the World
Camilla Pizzorno, a 22-year-old psychology student, is the new world champion of Genovese mortar pesto.
Camilla defeated 100 competitors from all over the world. The faced off over their mortars and pestles at the Salone del Maggior Consiglio in Palazzo Ducale.
Participation in the Championship was very intense after four years’s absence. Among the collateral events were a challenge between man and robot organised by IIT. Poste Italiane supported the traditional non-competitive children’s championship.
