Arianna Meloni, head of the secretariat for Premier Giorgia Meloni’s Brothers of Italy (FdI) party, called for responsibility on Saturday.
The prime minister’s sister urged party members to fully support Giorgia Meloni, closing the party’s national executive committee meeting, sources said. FdI coordinator and MP Giovanni Donzelli said after the convention: “We are serene and determined.”
“We will achieve our promises to Italians. The rest does not get in the way.”
He said participants discussed the party’s campaigns and government successes, adding: “The Left was wrong about every predicted disaster.”
Santanchè: “proud of our journey”
Tourism Minister Daniela Santanchè posted meeting photos. They showed her seated next to Donzelli and Tommaso Foti, minister for European affairs.
On X, she wrote: “We are proud of our journey and Italians’ daily confidence in us.”
“We continue working together to reach increasingly ambitious goals,” added Santanchè. She was among 17 people indicted last month for alleged false corporate communications, including her partner and sister. Santanchè, 63, resigned from Visibilia, her former publishing company, before becoming minister in 2022. She denies all wrongdoing.
Donzelli said FdI’s confidence in Santanchè “has never failed,” calling her “an excellent minister with an impeccable record.”
Prosecutors allege balance sheets were manipulated from 2016 to 2022 to hide losses and keep the company in business.
Poll shows strong backing for Meloni government
On Friday, Giorgia Meloni said Italy’s support remained strong despite attacks, citing a Supermedia YouTrend poll showing 30.1% backing.
“I don’t often look at surveys,” Meloni wrote on social media. “Not because they aren’t important, but because I believe trust is earned daily through reliability and determination.”
She noted: “Despite constant attacks and attempts to destabilise the government, Italians’ support remains stable.”
“This confirms our work to defend national interests, create business opportunities, and strengthen our nation is right.”
“I move forward, as always, with my head held high,” she added.
