Bernini elephant statue damaged in Rome

An iconic elephant statue by Baroque master Gian Lorenzo Bernini in the centre of Rome was damaged on Monday night, art officials said on Tuesday.

Bernini ‘souls’ on display at Vatican Museums

Two early masterpieces by Baroque artist Gian Lorenzo Bernini, ‘souls’, are now on display at the Vatican Museums. The sculptures, Damned Soul and Blessed Soul, have moved from their previous location at the Spanish embassy, which was difficult for the public to access, to the Holy See.

The Uffizi Gallery in Florence is hosting “The Scar” exhibition until 19th December. The exhibition shows photos of women disfigured with acid by their exes, taken by Italian photographer Ilaria Sagaria, and a Bernini bust.

The Cornaro Chapel in the Santa Maria della Vittoria church, Rome has been restored to its former glory. The chapel contains one of Bernini’s most celebrated sculptures The Ecstasy of St Teresa.
