Conte not renewing Grillo’s contract with M5S

Giuseppe Conte, leader of the 5-Star Movement (M5S), has announced that his relationship with the movement’s founder, comedian Beppe Grillo, has “irreversibly broken.” Conte confirmed he will not renew Grillo’s €300,000-a-year consultancy contract as the party’s ‘guarantor’.

Italy’s former Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte and the founder of the co-ruling 5-Star Movement, comedian Beppe Grillo, reached an agreement on Sunday. Differences over the future of the party had arisen recently. The party can now relaunch.
