British synth-pop band Duran Duran will return to the Sanremo Music Festival, four decades after their 1985 debut.
Presenter and artistic director Carlo Conti confirmed the news, saying the group will perform at the Ariston Theatre on 13 February. Conti described them as a “timeless band” and “highly appreciated international guests” who will surprise audiences “with special effects.”

The 75th Sanremo Festival runs from 11-15 February. Conti, 63, takes over from Amadeus, 61, who stepped down after five successful years. The festival, a national institution that inspired Eurovision, has launched the careers of top Italian artists, including Eros Ramazzotti, Laura Pausini, Mengoni, Mahmood, and Måneskin.
Duran Duran will also perform in Italy in June. The band, known for its 1980s hits and iconic music videos, will play at Rome’s Circus Maximus on 15-16 June, Bari’s Fiera del Levante on 18 June, and Milan’s I-DAYS festival at the Ippodromo Snai San Siro on 20 June.
But first Duran Duran to return to Sanremo after 40 years!
