Short-term rental hosts in Milan are seeing a sharp rise in bookings and revenue ahead of the 2026 Winter Olympics, according to data reported by Il Sole 24 Ore, citing AirDNA analytics.
The event, to be held from 6 to 22 February 2026 across Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo, is already driving record demand on short-term rental platforms such as Airbnb and Vrbo.
AirDNA figures published by Il Sole 24 Ore show that bookings in Milan have increased by 319% year-on-year, with more than 73,000 nights already reserved for the Olympic period. Host turnover is projected to grow by 589% from €1.77 million to €12.1 million.
The average daily rate for accommodation in Milan is expected to peak at €182 on 14 February 2026, compared with €95 on the same date in 2025 — a rise of more than 90%.
The impact of the Games extends beyond the Lombardy capital. Il Sole 24 Ore reports that Verona’s short-term rental turnover is forecast to rise by 211%, with employment up 53%. In Cortina d’Ampezzo, revenues are projected to climb 189%, while Bormio and Anterselva are set for increases of 182% and 187% respectively.
In total, over 800,000 tickets have already been sold for the Games — the first Winter Olympics in history to be hosted across three Italian regions: Lombardy, Veneto, and Trentino-Alto Adige.
