Classical music and Dante’s poetry will demonstrate culture’s power to connect nations at Expo 2025 Osaka. From 2 to 4 September, the Italy Pavilion will host Istante Dante in Expo, a project promoted by Almo Collegio Borromeo and the Foundation I Solisti di Pavia. It will feature 100 Italian and international musicians interpreting 100 tercets from The Divine Comedy.

Concerts will draw inspiration from Inferno, Purgatorio and Paradiso, with works by Schumann, Dvořák, Brahms and Chausson. Performers include I Solisti di Pavia, violinist Massimo Quarta and pianist Alessandro Marangoni.

The programme also includes cultural events. Ludovica Rossi Purini and Vincenzo Salvatore, president of Almo Collegio Borromeo, will discuss “The time for justice.” Nagoya University scientist Francesco Buscemi will speak on “The time for research.”

The project was conceived in 2023 by Valentina Lo Surdo, planned by Rossi Purini, and directed by Maestro Marangoni.

Sonia Selletti, president of the Foundation I Solisti di Pavia, said the initiative reflects “the success of a cultural reflection through art, thought and dialogue joined by musical language.”

Salvatore called the Osaka event “a unique and extraordinary occasion to value talented people and initiatives, in agreement with our main institutional aim: promoting merit.”
