Many of Italy’s state museums, archaeological sites and galleries will open for the Ferragosto public holiday which this year falls on Monday 15 August.
Among those staying open are Rome’s Colosseum, Pompeii, the Uffizi in Florence, Reggia di Caserta and the newly re-opened Galleria Nazionale d’Umbria in Perugia. However, the Vatican Museums will be closed.
