Premier Giorgia Meloni expressed her satisfaction on Saturday regarding the accomplishments made since assuming office in October 2022. She particularly emphasised the economic outcomes.
Speaking during the signing of the Development and Cohesion Agreement between the government and the Umbria regional authorities in Bastia Umbra, Meloni said, “Of the results obtained since assuming government, those that have given us the most satisfaction are the economic data.”
She highlighted the “record number of people in employment,” the presence of “stable contracts,” and the growth in “female employment.”
Reflecting on International Women’s Day, Meloni characterised it as “one of the most brilliant” days. She reiterated the government’s commitment to promoting female employment, citing Istat data as evidence of their success in this endeavour.
“However, we cannot stop here. We are aware that there are still challenges ahead, and we will continue to work with determination to guarantee women a better future in which they can realise their full potential, without having to choose between life and work,” Meloni affirmed.
Additionally, Meloni addressed improvements in “families’ real disposable income” and the reduction in the risk of poverty. She referenced a report by ISTAT, released on Wednesday, which indicated a decrease in the risk of poverty from 20% to 18.8% in 2023, attributing it to changes in the tax and benefits system. Moreover, the report highlighted a slight decrease in overall inequality in the distribution of disposable income, from 31.9% to 31.7%.
