Rome’s Supreme Court upheld a judge’s decision to appoint a guardian for 94-year-old Italian actress Gina Lollobrigida.
Lollobrigida’s son, with whom she has a strained relationship, asked for a guardian for his mother. The Supreme Court of Cassation on Friday confirmed the 94-year-old screen legend needs a legal guardian to stop people preying on her wealth.
The actress is sane, but medical experts noted a “weakening of the correct perception of reality” and a state of “weakness” that made “working suggestions” possible.
The first attempt failed
The former actress’s son, Andrea Milko Skofic, tried to put her under guardianship in 2014. He failed then, at a court in Rome.
Lollobrigida is bitter about the judge’s ruling. Today, she said she will continue to fight against her guardianship.
Gina Lollobrigida – a film icon
Although her last of 60+ films was 20 years ago, Gina Lollobrigida is an icon of Italian film. She was one of the most famous movie stars of the fifties and sixties. Together with Sophia Loren, she is one of the few Italian actresses who made a career in Hollywood and was known in the USA. After acting, she started her career as a photographer and sculptor in the 1980s.
