Casa Martelli, Florence reopens to the public on 4th September

On Saturday, 4th September, the Casa Martelli museum reopens in Florence. An integral part of the Bargello museums group it has been closed to the public for over a year.

A private residence of the Martelli family until the 1980s, Casa Martelli is a wonderful art collection from the fifteenth to nineteenth centuries.

Casa Martellis is just around the corner from the duomo on the ancient Via della Forca. Construction on the ‘house’ started in 1738 .

Among the novelties is a selection of works “Baroque Presences from the Bargello National Museum”, temporarily exhibited at Casa Martelli. They are placed there in anticipation of the refurbishment work that awaits the Baroque rooms of the Bargello.

Three monumental busts are on display: the Portrait of Cardinal Paolo Emilio Zacchia by Domenico Guidi (1654); a pair of busts depicting Christ and the Virgin Mary whose author is still unknown; and the bust of the young aristocrat Virginia Pucci Ridolfi, who died in 1568, aged only 28.

The museum is open on Saturday mornings for free. There are 4 accompanied visits per day with departure at the following times: 09:00; 10:00; 11:00 am; 12:00 pm. Each group is up to 10 people. No reservations.

Furthermore, on 11, 18 and 25 September at 10.30 and 11.30, the public visiting Casa Martelli can enjoy in the ballroom by the concerts of the Florentine Chamber Orchestra conducted by Maestro Giuseppe Lanzetta.  

On Sunday 19 September, the museum is open from 13:00 to 19:00.

Visitors must have a Green Pass to gain admission and wear a mask.
